In Shanghai now, using internet at this ungodly hour because the rest are snooozing away AFTER EATING A FULL MACDONALDS MEAL AT 4 something a.m. I can't bring myself to go sleep after having a full meal but I'm not sleepy at all anyway (rare for me cos sleeping is like my favourite past time and besides, I'll be indulging in it during my 10-hour ride back to Beijing later) so I decided to come out to use the computers. I think I've probably had more fast food this past week than my entire past year in Sg!! Argh, so unhealthy but I can't be bothered for now cos I feel like I'm on holiday even though I'm like ponning classes to be on one. Yr and I will be back to Beijing tonight and will resume a month's worth of sian diao lessons, then a short trip to Inner Mongolia with the JZG ppl :), back for another month of lessons and then exams..and then..SINGAPORE here we come!!!!!!!! Yay I'm looking forward to it and hoping it will come really soon..which I think it will cos time seems to pass quicker now than the first month we had here. We're already at our halfway mark! Yes!
Anyway Shanghai is not as nice as I thought it was. It pretty much looks like Singapore although the night scenery is slightly prettier. But if u're not in the shopping mood there is basically nothing to do. We went to Suzhou and Hangzhou for one-day tours and visited parks, temples etc, and tried to take photos of everything so I would know what I've visitied, but after awhile they honestly all look about the same. So I gave up and stopped taking photos altogether. I think I suck at these kind of things and should just stay at home forever and not attempt to be a cultured tourist. The only thing I COULD have slightly appreciated was the Yue Fei grave in Hangzhou but the tour guide didn't bring us there. The rest were like .... Furthermore the weather is blazing hot in the day and quite cold at night so it's really annoying cos you have to bring a jacket everywhere. Oh and my newly found interest is posing like an Ah Tiong in photos. You can get loads of inspiration along any tourist attraction in China. You just have to make your skin a bit thicker and hope that no one is laughing at you (the locals definitely won't cos they think it's perfectly normal to stand between 2 tree branches and hold onto them)
I have a short presentation for cultural studies class on Mon. I am just SO totally excited about speaking in front of a class of tiongs. Yay=))))) And I bet I forgot half of the Hiragana which I memorized for the past few weeks. School is so sian!!! Can 7 more weeks quickly pass?!
Btw I saw an old woman STRIPPING in public today during the Hangzhou tour. She just removed her top matter of factly and changed right in front of everybody while we were on some river boat ride. I was so astonished and exclaimed loudly to Yanru to look at her and Chinghow and Hanyong officially think I'm a closet pervert now (which I probably am ..HAHA) but I seriously find it damn hilarious.
